Palm Pre Mobile Mini Review

Palm Pre is the first phone to use Palm’s new Linux based Operating System webOS. This, termed as one of the most anticipated gadgets of 2009 was launched on 6th of June and has won several awards including CNET’s best in the show for 2009.

Specifications:
  • 3.1" 16M-color TFT display of 320 x 480 pixel resolution.
  • ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz, PowerVR SGX graphics chip
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 8 GB of Fixed Storage
  • 3 Mega Pixel Cam.
  • Sliding-out full QWERTY keyboard
  • Wi-Fi
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Bluetooth with A2DP support
It's got a great potential - a brilliant capacitive touch screen, zippy hardware platform, various connectivity options, integrated GPS receiver and much more. But lacks in some key features .

Key features not supported by the Palm Pre Mobile:
  • On mobile File manager for editing files.
  • 3G network Video Calls.
  • Memory slot.
  • Video Recording, DivX/XviD video playback support.
  • Flash support.
  • Bluetooth file transfers.
And finally though Palm had over a year to optimize the OS code, this model still makes us feel slower than the iPhone 3GS though both of them use the same hardware.

Conclusion: Despite not having some key features this model with its colorful and innovative user interface brings out many new ideas with a new OS called webOS. Hope this model has lot of scope to improve in the near future.
