How to Install Gmail Update for Android?

Google is updating its Android app for Gmail and you would have observed the beta notice in red on your Gmail webpage. The aim of this exercise is to improve the overall speed and to add a floating header / reply bar for user convenience. Considering the fact that mobile networks are not as dependable as desktops, Google has added a lot of caching on the device to minimize waiting time for server response.

You can download Gmail app on your Android phone with the following procedure. (Root access is not required)
  1. Select settings on your handset
  2. Open Applications
  3. Enable installation from unidentified sources
To get .apk file to your handset, try Android market or transfer using USB cable for installation.
Once the Gmail app is installed, you can test check all functions.
