Sony Ericsson's Xperia X1 due for October release

The hotly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 smartphone (originally made public at the MWC back in Feb) will be making its debut in Germany, the UK and the US as soon as the clock strikes midnight on 1st October - of course you won't be able to get your hands on it till around 8.30-9ish, but you'll be getting it a hell of a lot earlier than planned. Initially due for release in November, Sony Ericsson thought they would bring its release forward so eager beavers would think Christmas came early before the actual day hits in exactly 112 days.

Dan over at Tech Digest is a bit miffed with the 25fps rather than 30fps originally promised to feature on the handset, but he's not letting that get him down - "25fps would be fine by me". Now let's talk design. It features a full sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3-inch WVGA touchscreen and breaks away from the norm with triangular buttons (similar to the Nokia Prism). It runs Windows Mobile 6.1, which might annoy some people (namely Dan), provides 3G HSDPA and HSUPA connectivity as well as the standard Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. A 3.2 megapixel camera and Micro SD slot are also thrown in too. Now for the bit that will determine whether or not you'll be taking one of these babies home - the price. The expected price is £590, sim free.

Now put your tongues away.
