Microsoft launched its
barcode reader app, Microsoft Tag for
Google Android which uses the camera to read barcodes and decodes it to display the rich content like video, application or a link to the website on the screen. Though Microsoft is a direct competitor to Google in smartphone OS, the former company decided to expand its app to most of the mobile users and hence revealed this app, Microsoft Tag for Android OS yesterday.

In official Microsoft Tag blog post, Microsoft said "It’s important to give more people access to Tag because there’s huge demand for reliable mobile barcoding—businesses and consumers are eager to find creative ways to use their phone and hyperlink the real world"
Compatibility: Windows mobile, BlackBerry, iPhone, Symbian, are already compatible with Microsoft Tag. Now Google Android adds to the party.
