Motorola Droid 2 vs BlackBerry Torch

Two great smartphones have been launched this summer – Verizon’s Motorola Droid 2 and AT&T’s BlackBerry Torch 9800. Let us compare the salient features of the two mobile phones.

Operating System:

Droid 2
runs on Google’s Android 2.2, the latest edition with several spicy features like empowering administrator to enforce password policies, wiping out data remotely on any lost Android devices, etc.

On the other hand BlackBerry Torch runs on new BlackBerry OS 6 which works well with social networking and messaging tools.


Droid 2 Processor clocks at 1 GHZ. BlackBerry’s processor clocks at 624 MHZ.

Touch Screen:

Droid 2 has a 3.7” screen with resolution 480 x 800 pixels. Torch screen is of 3.2” size with resolution 480 x 260 pixels.


Droid 2 has horizontal slide out keyboard while BlackBerry has vertical slide out keyboard.


Droid 2’s camera shoots better still photos. However for video capture of Torch is better.

Both the brands are strong performers, Android is good enough for enterprising user whereas BlackBerry Torch is the right choice for handling highly sensitive data owing to its better security features.
