Android Smartphones taking lead in US

A recent study by the U.S. smartphone market, conducted by ComScore, showed that the Android devices are taking lead in US as well. In July, 82.2 million smart phones are used by the U.S. population that is 10% above April's performance this year.

Android-smartphones increased their share from 36.4% to 41.8% of the market. Share of Research in Motion fell from 25.7% to 21.7% and Microsoft dropped from 6.7% to 5.7%. The share of Nokia declined from 2.3% to 1.9%.

Interestingly, many Americans (25.5%) preferred Samsung phones. LG and Motorola had shares of 20.9% and 14.1% respectively of the market. Apple has 9.5%, and RIM just 7.6% of the market.
